OUR STORY

Four generations, one grove,
zero compromise.

IDONIS begins in Aidonohori, a village on the slopes beneath Mount Pangaion in Amphipolis — a place where olive trees have grown for millennia. What started as a family's daily provision has become a single-estate oil we are proud to share, harvested and pressed exactly as our great-grandfather did.

IDONIS STORY

For us, IDONIS wasn’t simply created—it is a living family tradition. Passed down from father to son across endless generations, the art of olive oil has bound our family together and shaped our fondest memories for centuries. To us, harvesting olives is far more than just a process; it’s our family's favorite time of the year. We gather in the groves as one: the younger generation climbing into the ancient branches, while the elders prepare a rustic feast for our afternoon picnic. We have nurtured these trees for hundreds of years, and in return, they take care of us—thanking us each season with their most valuable gift, their fruits! For generations, this precious "golden liquid" was a carefully guarded treasure, crafted solely for our own family table and our close-knit local community.

From Our Roots to Your Table

The decision to share IDONIS with the world started with a simple gesture. The youngest member of our family—began sharing our olive oil with friends and loved ones living abroad. The response was always the same: a sudden smile, a look of nostalgic warmth, and the comforting feeling of "Home." That emotional spark made our decision clear. IDONIS is built on a deep commitment to quality, tradition, and above all, a love for the people who miss the taste of home!

THE HISTORY OF OUR VILLAGE

Aidonochori, home of the IDONIS family, is located in the broader region of Ancient Amphipolis,

within a radius of less than 5 kilometers. The region was originally inhabited by the Edonians.

The Edonians were known for their ecstatic worship of Dionysus. They were the first to possess

the secrets of cultivating the grapevine and the olive tree. Due to the wealth of the region,

they faced intense colonial attacks, initially by the Athenians in the mid-5th century BC and

10 years later by the Spartans. Eventually, they became part of the powerful Macedonian Kingdom

under Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, in the mid-4th century BC. Alexander the Great,

moreover, chose this region to build his fleet using timber from the local forests, chose Nearchus

of Amphipolis as his Admiral, and sourced all his supplies here for the great campaign to the

distant East. The primary diet of his soldiers, and naturally of Alexander himself, consisted of olives

and the olive oil of this region. The IDONIS you hold in your hands is a direct descendant of that legacy!

HERITAGE & ORIGIN

The Historic Soil of Amphipolis

Located in Northern Greece along the banks of the Strymonic Gulf, Amphipolis is a region steeped in thousands of years of ancient history and natural beauty. Once a powerful city-state of the Macedonian Empire tied to the era of Alexander the Great, it is famous worldwide for iconic monuments like the colossal Lion of Amphipolis and its magnificent ancient tombs. Beyond its monumental heritage, the region is blessed with a unique microclimate—where crisp Aegean breezes meet fertile river valleys and sun-drenched hills. This rich, nutrient-dense

earth has nurtured ancient olive groves for centuries, making Amphipolis one of Greece's most cherished agricultural sanctuaries.
